Instagram's Threads app, launched just recently, has already exceeded 100 million users. It reached this milestone much faster than ChatGPT, OpenAI's chatbot. Furthermore, users are actively posting content, with over 95 million posts and 190 million likes already logged. However, Threads' long-term user retention remains uncertain. Meanwhile, external data indicates a downturn in Twitter's traffic.

Google plans to shift from Samsung to TSMC for its fully customized Tensor G5 chip production, projected for 2025. Challenges in coordination and employee retention have delayed production.

Despite recent layoffs in big tech companies, tech roles continue to be in high demand, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, according to Richard Wahlquist, CEO at the American Staffing Association.

UK consumer finance advocate, Martin Lewis, warns of the first deepfake video scam circulating on Facebook. This AI-generated video falsely represents Lewis endorsing an investment scheme backed by Elon Musk, inciting considerable concern.

Insight: This news brings the threats of deepfake technology to a global scale. It exacerbates existing concerns about fraud, highlighting the need for stringent regulation, enhanced AI detection tools, and heightened public awareness to safeguard online environments and protect consumers.

Google's Med-PaLM 2, an AI chatbot designed to provide medical information, is undergoing tests at the Mayo Clinic. Despite concerns about inaccuracies, the tool performed comparably to doctors in several metrics.

ChatGPT, an AI chatbot, relies on large language models and human training to formulate responses. It creates fluent, contextually appropriate responses based on mathematical and statistical calculations. It learns from vast amounts of conversations and human feedback to interact effectively. However, it struggles with unknown queries, where it often 'hallucinates', presenting guessed information as factual.

Generative AI is rapidly transforming digital advertising by automating ad campaign creations, thus reducing time and effort. Major players like Meta, Alphabet, and Amazon have recently debuted products, enhancing their abilities to tailor messages, images, and videos for online advertising. The technology still faces hurdles, such as brand safety and legal issues, but it's being hailed as the next significant step in targeted online advertising.

An artificial intelligence tool, CHARM, developed by researchers at Harvard Medical School, demonstrates potential in speeding up the diagnosis and treatment of aggressive brain tumors. The tool rapidly identifies the genetic profile of glioma tumors, which could spare patients from multiple surgeries and expedite appropriate treatments. However, further real-world testing is needed.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) has reported a significant increase in Q2 sales, surpassing expectations due to a surge in artificial intelligence applications. As the primary contract manufacturer for Nvidia's AI accelerator chips, TSMC's revenue for June reached NT$156.4 billion, contributing to a total Q2 sales figure of NT$480.8 billion, outpacing the average analyst estimate of NT$476.2 billion.

According to Carta data, U.S. startups at Series C, D, and E stages exhibit signs of valuation recovery in Q2. However, global venture dollars remain on the decline despite an uptick in Q1.

The June Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, which will be released Wednesday, is not expected to greatly influence the Federal Reserve's interest rate trajectory, according to investors. Although the June jobs report showed fewer jobs added than anticipated, wage inflation and a strong job market suggest that the Federal Reserve will proceed with the expected quarter-point rate hike in July.
